Building Resilience- Los Angeles

USGBC-LA is creating the Building Resilience-LA Guide for buildings in our region that want to incorporate resilience into operations and maintenance over time. Read the Press Release.

Los Angeles is a region at risk. From climate change to earthquakes, power outages to drought, we know that the future will look different from the past and that our buildings and communities are vulnerable.

Resilience comes from the ability to be flexible, adaptable and connected. A sound built environment is key. So is a strong community. The green building community must take a leadership role in bringing resilience down to local level.

USGBC-LA is working with SCOPE to create a living example of resilience. Housed in a former fire station, SCOPE is at the epicenter of a chronically disadvantaged community. Along with USGBC National, Majora Carter and Associates, and our City of LA partners, we will implement resilient strategies ranging from on-site water reuse to design of an emergency cooling center to green infrastructure in public streets.
