The Green Schools Committee galvanizes community members around improving the health, wellness, beauty and efficiency of their local school. Members of the Green Schools Committee communicate with the Center for Green Schools to organize local projects for the Green Apple Day of Service. Green Apple Day is a way to galvanize students, parents, and teachers to be champions at their campuses for sustainability. Over 50 projects are organized to green school sites in our region and include garden builds, solar installations, and beautification programs. Committee members have also created specialized curriculum covering Indoor Air Quality and conducted workshops for over 4,000 students. Committee members organize panels for the annual Green Schools & Colleges Conference to inspire school officials to pursue sustainability goals.
