TOUR: Hyperion Plant Tour and
Environmental Learning Center Exhibit
The Hyperion Water Reclamation Plant is the City's oldest and largest wastewater treatment facility. The plant has been operating since 1894, with multiple expansions and improvements over the last 100+ years. Today, leading edge technological innovations capitalize upon the opportunity to recover wastewater bio-resources that are used for energy generation and agricultural applications. For example, the Digester Gas Utilization Project (DGUP) will reduce the environmental impacts of power and steam generation and utilize HWRP's digester gas for renewable energy generation. In addition, air emission controls and odor management facilities are integrated in all improvements. More of these forward thinking strategies will become realities at Hyperion in the coming years to better protect our coastal environment and serve our communities.
Join USGBC-LA's Westside chapter for a tour of Hyperion Plant to see how wastewater is treated for reuse, followed by a tour of their interactive Environmental Learning Center.
Price: $15 USGBC-LA members; $20 non-members
Parking/Arrival Instructions: Visitors will check in at GATE C at Hyperion Way off of Vista Del Mar. Parking for all vehicles is free, and located adjacent to the Environmental Learning Center. Because parking is limited, carpooling is recommended
