WOMEN IN GREEN LA
The Women in Green breakfast series was started in 2012 by a small group of volunteers and is now an official program of USGBC-LA. The breakfast, which occurs about 3x per year in downtown LA, draws an audience of 80-150, primarily of professional women in the A/E/C community. Representatives from government agencies such as Metro, LADWP, City of LA Bureau of Engineering, and the Mayor’s office also regularly attend.
The typical format is a moderated panel discussion or a one-on-one fireside chat followed by Q&A from the audience. Past panelists have included local and national leaders in sustainability including Mary Nichols, Chairman of the California Air Resources Board; Lauren Faber-O’Connor, Deputy Chief Sustainability Officer for LA Mayor Eric Garretti; Anna Guerrero, Chief of Staff for LA Mayor Eric Garcetti; Gail Goldberg, Executive Director of ULI-Los Angeles, Cara Horowitz, Executive Director from Emmett Institute at UCLA, Nancy Sutley, Chief Sustainability and Economic Development Officer at LADWP; Kris Tompkins former CEO at Patagonia and conservationist, et al.
