Green Building Initiative (GBI) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization whose mission is:

“To reduce climate impacts by improving the built environment. We deliver education, standards, assessments, and certifications through an inclusive and global community.”

Our strategy for accomplishing our goals involves education and promotion on the use of GBI’s Green Globes certification program for commercial buildings and GBI’s Guiding Principles Compliance and third-party assessment program for federal building sustainability requirements.

GBI is a collaborative 100% remote virtual organization. In addition, GBI provides professional development opportunities for employees. It provides an annual allotment per employee equal to 1% of annual salary.
Association-wide bonus opportunities are available to employees. Full-time employment with medical, vision, dental, life, short- and long-term disability insurance, and a retirement matching program. GBI employees enjoy paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) accruable based on a schedule and half-day Fridays. Additionally, all GBI employees are eligible for paid sick leave.
