The annual Legacy Project is a gift to the under-served communities in our region from the USGBC-LA members who assist in designing, building, and supporting it. The Legacy Project team strives to ensure the project is community-supported, has an educational and sustainable focus, and serves a variety of social-economic conditions.
2019 USGBC-LA Legacy Project has been awarded to Eco Urban Gardensâ Regenerative Learning Garden at Arroyo High School!
Eco Urban Gardens (EUG) garden installation at the Arroyo High School (AHS) Campus in El Monte, CA focuses on environmental education and its connection to our health and wellness. The Regenerative Learning Garden (RLG) demonstrates a variety of techniques for drought conditions including a Hugelkultur bed, swale, berms, meditation labyrinth and California native plant garden. The community will learn the principles of climate change and how to support healthy watersheds and regenerative landscapes. The project features the Community-supported agriculture (CSA) model and promises to reach over 2,200 high school students, as well as studentsâ families, school staff and the community surrounding the high school.
