Ready to network and get your #gameon with your community at our virtual game show experience?

This year, we're switching it up with an interactive and family-friendly experience that everyone can enjoy!

Network and get some face-to-face time with your community from the comfort and safety of your home! We've teamed up with The Go Game to bring you the Green Gala online and we can't wait to share this evening with you!

Are games not your thing? Don't worry--social rooms and the lobby (with virtual cocktail tables!) will be open throughout the entire experience as well.

This year, more than ever, we're asking for our community's support towards this invaluable annual fundraiser.
Several of our important events (like the Ping Pong Tournament!) that support our largest annual initiatives had to be canceled this year due to limitations arising from the COVID-19 pandemic. The proceeds from your support of this year's Green Gala will directly support the 2020 Legacy Project as well as our Green Schools Initiatives.

Schedule

5:30 - 6:00 pm: Virtual lobby opens for networking + family-friendly games begin

6:00 - 6:45 pm: Event Programming with Welcome Remarks, Sustainable Innovation Awards, and Announcements

6:45 - 8:00 pm: Game On! Networking rooms and the lobby will be open all night to interact with your peers as well.

8:00 pm - 9:00 pm: See you at the digital after-party! Nightcap, anyone?

The Go Game platform provides an endless amount of game options for Green Gala attendees. Attendees will be able to see and communicate with all other event attendees, privately chat with each other, jump into a virtual photo booth, find a preferred game room, change in and out of games if they'd rather be in a different game (read: you won't be forced to perform karaoke unless you LOVE it!), or just hang out and network in the lobby with your peers!

Teams can opt to have their own private game rooms for internal holiday parties or for an end-of-the-season team-building experience! Let us know if this is something you'd be interested in at events@usgbc-la.org.

Want to know more about the event experience?

Green Gala registrants will be sent a link prior to the event! Upon the opening of the online platform, Gala registrants will go to their link and sign in with their name and email and be prompted to take a photo for their profile. From there, the Gala user will be shown a brief welcome video that will walk you through the platform how-tos and where to get started. After the video is over, you will be added into the virtual lobby where all other registrants will also be waiting. In the lobby, you can see who else is in attendance, chat via text with others, go to the photo booth, and visit virtual "cocktail tables" to socialize with your peers through group video chats.

The lobby is also where all game rooms and social rooms will be listed to the lefthand side. New rooms will begin every 5-10 minutes and run for about 15-20 minutes per room. About 25 people are allowed into a room before the room is locked with those participants. After a game is over, the users are pushed back to the lobby to either add themselves to another game room, a social room, or to explore at will!

At around 6 PM, the first sessions of games will wrap up and all participants will be back in the lobby for our virtual programming and Sustainable Innovation Awards presentation! After the programming is complete, all users will be free to join the new game rooms, social rooms, or to network in the lobby with other green building peers!

As the event wraps up, you will be offered a link to join in on the digital after-party via Zoom! Join us there for an after-dinner drink or to wind down after your evening of victories!

FAQ

What are the game rooms like? The game rooms open with a bit of networking to get to know the people in your room. After a few minutes, the games will begin and you will be auto-assigned onto a team. Every game room will have a host who will guide you through instructions, tips, and be your own virtual cheerleader. Each room will have varying questions from getting-to-know-you, trivia, and group questions for your team. You will leave every game room feeling like you learned more about the people you just attended with all while having fun!

What are the social rooms like? The social rooms are also capped at 25 participants per room. Some social rooms will have entertainment in the form of musical performances or spoken word, and others will be just for chatting.

What kinds of questions will I be asked in the game rooms? Each room will have varying questions from getting-to-know-you, trivia, and group questions for your team. You will leave every game room feeling like you learned more about the people you just attended with all while having fun!

If I purchased a family ticket, is it recommended that I share a computer with my partner or family? It's recommended that each participant that plans on playing games uses their own computer with their own headphones. If partners are joining on your computer for a game, please be sure that they also are using their own headphones (or sharing your pair with you if that's your adorable preference). If children are too young to use their own computer for the games, please feel free to have them join you at yours! All are invited to join!

Will there be designated family-friendly game rooms? Yes! Particularly in the first session of the games, we will have designated and labeled rooms for emphasized family-friendly fun for all ages!

If I am part of a private team, what can I expect? Private, locked team rooms will be running throughout the night and only be accessible if your email address is assigned to that room. These are just like the other game rooms, but private for your office's team only! Otherwise, it's the same format and agenda as others are experiencing. Most teams have opted to only do 1-2 private game rooms for their office to maximize socializing at the event and the option to join public rooms as well.

I am trying to purchase a team ticket, but I can't add my team members' names! Help! Unfortunately, our system does not allow for individual names to be added to a group ticket--so sorry! After you purchase the team ticket, a staff member will reach out to you to get your team members' names and email addresses, your team preferences, and to register each person and send them the event link.
